HIPAA The Office of Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services recently promulgated a Compliance Program Guidance for Individual and Small Group Physician Practices. Within that model plan is the recognition that very small groups may not have the financial resources to implement the comprehensive program outlined. The OIG encourages small and individual practices to participate in programs offered by other groups (physicians, hospitals, MSOs, third-party billing companies) to supplement their own compliance program. Thus the WMSO offers an integrated Corporate Compliance Program for its network of subscribers, designed to interface with the medical practice’s efforts and commitment to meeting the standards set in the OIG Compliance Guidance.

WMSO offers a number of other Compliance-related services. Members are provided with a Hotline to report suspected incidents of Compliance fraud. Other information includes new state legislation as well as individualized Compliance information.
